A national seminar on the theme, ‘The Importance of Archaeology in Decoding Indian History’ is being organised by CPR Institute of Indological Research on March 28 and 29 at the C. P. Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.
Dr. B. R. Mani, vice-chancellor, Indian Institute of Heritage, Noida, and director general, National Museum, New Delhi, will inaugurate the seminar and release the book ‘Art in the Indus Civilization’ on Friday, March 28.
Dr. T. Satyamurthy, former director of archaeology, Kerala, will deliver the keynote address.
Eminent scholars from different parts of the country are taking part, says a note from the host.
These include Dr Satyabhama Badhreenath, former joint director general of ASI, Dr. K. K. Muhammed, former regional director of ASI, Dr. S. Rajavelu, former HoD and professor at Tamil University, Thanjavur, and Dr Vasant Shinde, former vice-chancellor of Deccan College University, Pune.
The archaeology department of the government of Tamil Nadu is organising an exhibition on the theme – ‘Archaeological Excavations in Tamil Nadu.’
