The van is part of a service offered by the National Co-operative Consumers Federation of India (NCCP) which functions under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India.
The NCCP has been arranging mobile sales of provisions in all the major areas at rates much lower than the MRP rates in local private stores.
These vans are positioned in strategic locations of Important places in the city .
In Mylapore, the NCCP mobile van is parked on East Mada Street near Kalathi rosemilk shop everyday, 10 a.m. onwards till 5 p.m. .
It offers rice ( Rs 34 per kg), dhal ( Rs 70 per kg), konda kadalai for Rs 58 per kg and atta for Rs 30 per kg besides other stuff.
Payment can be made via GPay too.
