Greater Chennai Corporation had proposed to construct a skating rink in the GCC’s Alphonso playground campus off South Canal Bank Road, Mandavelipakkam.
The existing one in the Marina Beach area is out of bounds since Chennai Metro Rail work is on .
The plan includes fitting flood lights for the rink, CCTV cameras and power back-up .
The project has been suggested by Mylapore MLA Dha Velu who is sharing funds from his constituency development fund. The budget is Rs.48 lakhs.
