Writer-historian V. Sriram is hosting a Walk in Akwarpet that is themed for Republic Day.
The theme – the life and times of patriot Ambujammal, after whom a street in Alwarpet is named.
Ambujammal was born into a rich family but Gandhi, his life and his cause impacted her and she devoted her life to the cause of India’s freedom struggle from an early age.
The Srinivasa Gandhi Nilayam on Ambujammal Street was founded by her to serve the needy. It continues the social outreach in various forms today.
Walk info – Date: Friday, 26th January Timings: 6.00 to 8.00 am, followed by breakfast. Cost per person: Rs 1050/- including GST.
