Mylapore wakes up to mist and smoke on Sunday morning

Was it the dense mist? Or was it the smoke from burning waste on. Bhogi morning?

If you were around the tank of Sri Kapali Temple this Sunday morning, you could have stared at the thick sheet of mist-smoke mix that hung across this water body.

It stayed there even as late as 9 a.m.

In Mylapore’s inner streets, many households did burn small mounds of waste. In Pallakkumanyam Nagar, groups of youths lit bonfires and drummed on, to entertain themselves. Smoke then filled the entire sprawling colony.
