At this R. A. Puram church, for children, Thursday was time for prayer, games and fun

Children had the day for themselves at this church on Thursday; for some prayer and some fun and games and then treats.

Our Lady of Guidance Church in R. A. Puram observed Holy Innocents Day on Thursday, Dec.28, a day in the Catholic calendar held in remembrance of what was a mass killing of babies in Bethlehem ordered by king Herod in his quest to locate baby Jesus and have him killed.

There was a special Mass conducted for the children of the parish at 8 am.

Parish priest Fr Y. F. Bosco said that around 80 children attended this Mass. The children’s choir sang at the Mass. It was followed by carol singing. A common blessing was given to all children and sweets were distributed.  Many parents of the children also attended this special service.

In the evening, games  were conducted for the children. The programme began with a prayer led by deacon Thomas Deepak. The children indulged in games like Bombing the City, Musical Chairs, Treasure Hunt, Lemon and Spoon, etc were held.  Around 90 children took part.
Later, a Bible Quiz was conducted by deacon Thomas Deepak. The programme wound up with a prayer and  prize distribution by Fr Y. F. Bosco.
Also present at this event were the catechism teachers, parents of the students and the youths of the parish who helped out as volunteers.
