Abdul Khader, better known as Babu, who ran Bala Medicals on Dr Ranga Road, Mylapore passed away recently after a tragic accident at his residence.
Two weeks ago, he had called a technician to tackle a problem with the gas cylinder at his residence. But when the testing process was on, a fire developed and engulfed both of them in the kitchen.
Khader and the technician were rushed to Kilpauk Medical College hospital and after treatment for over a week, Khader was shifted to Apollo Hospital but he did not survive the severe burns.
The technician is still in hospital but has recovered.
Khader was 51 years old and had a large, loyal clientele. One them said, “Babu was friendly and ever-smiling. He did all he could for his customers.”
The family resides at Raja Flats, near the medicals shop, on Dr Ranga Road.
