Illustrated talk on ‘Trains in and around Madras’ based on photos shot in 1960s. Sept.21

Are you a fan of trains? Then this talk is for you.

This evening ( Sept.21), photographer and visual artist S. Venkataraman who is popularly known as Poochi Venkat will give an illustrated talk themed ‘Lineside: Vintage photographs of Trains around Madras’.

The event is presented by INTACH’s Chennai Chapter.

The photos were taken in the 1965 – ’69 period by Australian Ian Manning who taught at Madras Christian College.

Venkat has curated a selection of photos, some 3000 of them that Manning left behind. He will not only talk about the trains and engines, the routes and services but also on the area in and around the city that are partly seen in these photos.

The talk is at Ashvita art gallery on 2nd Street, off Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Mylapore ( near Seethapathy EVK Clinic), starts at 6.30 p.m. and is open to all.
