Small teams of state government staff are visiting colonies across the Mylapore zone to register women for the state government’s Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam.
This recently-launched project provides for providing a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 to women, especially those who are economically weak.
On Wednesday, a team was stationed at Nochikuppam where women queued up to fill in forms and submit them. The staff said that they have bene told to visit such colonies and carry out this work rather than ask people to come to designated offices in the area.
