Following the kodiyetram on Thursday morning, the ten-day Vaikasi utsavam has begun at Sri Velleeswarar Temple, South Mada Street.
There was a pancha moorthy procession that started at 9.30am and went around the four Mada Streets.
Velleeswarar provided darshan on pavazhakkal vimanam.
To mark the occasion, the temple presented pongal and sambar to the devotees gathered at the temple.
