Shortly after 7.30am on Friday, the flag was hoisted at Sri Kesava Perumal Temple, Mylapore signifying the commencement of the Panguni Brahmotsavam here.
Following this event, Kesava Perumal was taken out on a street procession on dharmaathi peedam with prabhandham members reciting the sacred verses.
Garuda sevai takes place on Sunday morning at 6am.
