Some one hundred people stayed back well past 10 pm on Tuesday evening to watch the Sripatham personnel present four rounds of a special voyali dance performance inside the Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple following Singaravellar’s nine-round procession on the float in the temple tank.
Just after 6 pm, Singaravellar, along with his consorts Valli and Devayani, left the temple complex on a procession around the Mada Streets to reach the beautifully decorated float.
For close to three hours, several hundreds of devotees sat on the steps on all four sides of the tank to have darshan of Singaravellar. This was Day Three of the theppam.
A special feature of the float procession was the presentation of the Vedas, the sacred verses of the saint poets by the two othuvars and devotional music by the nagaswaram artistes.
The theppam was a three-day affair.
All the service personnel of the temple who helped make the three-day Theppotsavam a grand event were honoured at the end of the nine rounds.
