The festive fervour showed up at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple on Saturday morning.
12 hours ahead of the first Kaalam abhisekam on the occasion of Maha Sivarathri, the stream of devotees ad steady and thick at the temple. The queue extended to the eastern Raja Gopuram just after 10.30am.
Police personnel were in good numbers to manage the crowd and were seen answering devotees’ queries.
At the Navarathri mandapam, Vedic members were presenting non stop Vedic recital in the first half.
Traffic on North Mada Street was packed with cars and it moved at snail’s pace.
Traffic Police have said that cars would not be allowed into North Mada Street from 4pm.
