M. Shanmugham, a first division cricketer with IOB from the 1990s donned an interesting role on Saturday morning at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple.
As a service initiative, the bank assigned the cricketer to man the Rs 50 special ticket counter on the occasion of Maha Sivarathri.
As a banker, he has a long experience of handling cash at the counter.
He told Mylapore Times that the temple has been a longtime customer of the bank and that the bank was doing this service as an extension of their commitment.
He said he would continue to be at the counter through the day. He was accompanied at the counter service by his colleague Lakshminarayanan.
Shanmugham is a BCCI level 2 coach and was earlier the coach at TNCA Academy for 8 years.
He has been with the bank for three decades.
