One of Carnatic music greats, Prof. T V Gopalakrishnan is being celebrated at a two-day music fest ( Sept.16 & 17) at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet starting this evening.
TVG, as this multi-faceted artiste and guru is fondly called, turns 90 and his well-wishers and fans have got up this event.
Member of Parliament and DMK leader, Karunanidhi Kanimozhi is the chief guest at the Day One event ( Sept.16), and she will be releasing a book on TVG’s choice compositions.
This Friday evening, TVG’s sishyas and others will perform and then, lots of artistes are being honoured. Some 90 artistes will present a group concert.
On Day Two, Tamil Nadu governor R. N. Ravi is the chief guest. A galaxy of guests like politician G K Vasan, music composer Gangai Amaren and arts promoter Nalli Kuppuswamy will offer felicitations.
The vidwan will then perform on stage; a snappy concert followed by a jazz concert by him and his senior artistes.
