Vinayaka Chathurthi will be celebrated in a grand way once again at the Navasakthi Pillayar temple near Luz Junction. Mylapore Times had reported last year that the celebrations were held in a restricted way due to pandemic wave 2 in September 2021 (https://www.mylaporetimes.com/2021/09/lockdown-restrictions-a-big-dampener-on-vinayaka-chathurthi-celebrations/).
The temple has featured big artistes every evening through the whole of next week.
On Monday (Aug 29) evening, the Pattimandram is anchored by popular Pattimandram judge K Gnanasambandan. On Tuesday evening, Barathi Baskar will present a 90-minute talk on the greatness of Vinayaka. On Wednesday (Aug 31) on the occasion of Vinayaka Chathurthi, there is a three-hour-long devotional songs concert by Veeramani Raju’s troupe.
On September 1, Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy and his wife Anita will present a devotional concert. On Friday evening, Nithyashree Mahadevan presents a kutcheri and next Saturday, Rajesh Vaidhya will present a veena concert.
All these events start at 7.30pm
On Friday, people will be able to enjoy the oonjal utsavam. The seven-day long celebration will culminate in a street procession of lord Vinayaka starting at 9pm on Sunday (Sept 4).
