In some ways, the rishaba vahanam procession at the Panguni utsavam of Sri Kapali Temple is grandest.
And on this Sunday night, on March 13, as the gods were brought out on grandly decorated vanaham and palaquins, a little after 1 0 p.m., a roar arose from the thousands of people gathered on Sannidhi Street.
Close to some 5,000 or more people were in this zone on Sunday night and more stood on East and South Mada Streets to await the procession.
And it was close to 7 a.m. when the procession got back to the temple, again a few hundred people who had come in early to participate.
