People came out of their homes well past 10pm on Wednesday evening to have darshan of the beautifully decorated lord Hanuman, seen in a bright yellow silk vastram, carry Sri Venkatesa Perumal as this procession made its way on the Sadayappan and Adanjan Streets in Mandaveli as part of third day celebrations of the Panguni Brahmotsavam at the Mari Chetty Perumal Temple.
Earlier in the evening, Vasudeva Bhattar’s alankaram expertise came to fore as he presented Sri Venkatesa Perumal at his glittering best decked with jewels and pathakam on his chest.
The colourful canopy atop Venkatesa Perumal added to the beauty to the day’s procession.
A few members of the Prabhandham team led the procession presenting the sacred verses of king-turned-saint poet Kulasekara Azhvaar.
Earlier this month, the beating of the drums by the Shiva Adiyars at Sri Kapaleeswarar Panguni Utsavam drew a lot of youngsters to the Mada Streets of Mylapore. Likewise, at this Brahmotsavam, another set of youngsters presented an extraordinary display of drum beating that brought out lots of people, including children onto the streets of Mandaveli.
