The first full Sunday lockdown has begun the way the state wanted it, at least in Mylapore.
The streets and roads are deserted, be it TTK Road, Dr. R K Salai or R K Mutt Road. There is some traffic on Marina beach road, but police stationed at all busy, key junctions check the purpose of motorists.
Hawker stalls and shops and restaurants are all closed.
Flyovers have been closed to traffic, police using barricades to shut out movement.
Save for people sitting in a corner reading newspapers or chatting in inner streets of colonies, there is a strange quiet all over.
The lockdown has been ordered by the government to check rising cases of the Corona virus.
