Making colourful a saint’s feast . . .

The saint Lazarus feast celebration at the Our Lady of Guidance Church in R. A. Puram is a grand affair every year in late January.

More because it is a feast got up by the community and managed by a Trust.

Many families who reside in this area like on Malayappan Street and have settled and lived here for over three generations ensure they lend their own colours to the feast.

And you witness it on the Saturday of the multi-car procession of the saints and Mother Mary.

Sofia Peter, a  church goer illuminated the statue of Mary placed in her drawing room and then designed a set of kolams and rangolis that led on to her doorstep.

Many others had their porch decorated for this occasion.
