Work on constructing a cement road in the tarred Marina Loop Road is going on at a steady pace. Since the work is done in parts on one side first and then on the other, and the road is used for one-way traffic, vehicles are allowed to use this road even as the work is on.
This road runs from behind the Light House, along the beachside and joins the Dr DGS Dinakaran Road in R A Puram.
This week, we saw workers working on the west side of the road at the Foreshore Estate end. The east side of the cement road is done as far at the first phase goes.
We spotted a new drain laid on one side of this road that has been raised much higher from what existed as a tar road.
Fish hawkers are making the best of the flat surface of the road to spread the catch and dry fish.
Much of the construction waste has been dumped on the sands; this and the waste generated in the kuppams dumped on the sand makes this whole stretch of the Loop Road an eyesore.
