Business was dull for vegetable and fruit vendors on South Mada Street, Mylapore due to the rains last week. A. Muniamma, a vegetable vendor sitting outside Velleswarar Temple, was relieved to see the sun out today. She says, “Several of my regular customers did not venture out due to the rains. Since last Tuesday we couldn’t get fresh vegetables since most of the roads to Koyambedu were blocked”.
Supply resumed on Sunday, Nov 6 and the prices of vegetables have reduced considerably. Muniamma points to a stack of coriander leaves and says, “Yesterday I sold one bunch for Rs. 25, today it has reduced to Rs. 10”.
