Chettinad Vidyashram, R. A. Puram hosted its 29th annual day celebration – ‘Varna Jaalam’ on Jan 30 at the school premises. The chief guest was R. Ramesh Kumar, executive director, Council for Leather Exports, Govt. of India.
The programme started with the invocation song by the school choir followed by the welcome address given by Dr. Meena Muthiah, secretary and correspondent. The chief guest then distributed the prizes to the young achievers of the school.
All through the evening’s cultural fiesta, the theme stressed on depiction of colours as a reflection of human thoughts. The event kicked off with a welcome dance – ‘Swethanjali’ followed by a hilarious Tamil play ‘Arasiyal Vannangal’. A contemporary dance number – ‘Varna Bharatham’, an enlightening English play and a fusion dance left the audience spellbound. The fiesta ended with a thought provoking dance drama followed by a foot tapping Hindi dance.
