Theatre and film actor S V Shekher is among the nine members newly appointed by the India government for the Central Board for Film Certification, a body which oversees certification of Indian films.
He is a resident of Mandavelipakkam, a former MLA and now in the BJP party.
Shekher has featured in many films but is much more active in Tamil theatre; he runs his own drama company which stages shows in the city, outside it and abroad. Besides Shekher, actor Jeevitha is the other south Indian in this body.
