A Tamil drama festival hosted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mylapore got off to a start on Monday evening, November 3. Gurukulam Boys Company presented ‘ Kadavul Vanthirunthaar’ written by late Sujatha.
This play, written in the 1970s touches on scientific temper and mass hysteria of godmen and flashy religious sweep that embraces people. This evening’s performance was a neat show and it attracted a good audience who stayed on though the curtains came down only after 9 p.m.
Bhavan’s Chennai kendra head said that this was the first time it had funded a drama series and decided to time it before the Bhavan’s December Season music fest gets underway later this month.
