Soorasamharam – the divine act of Lord Murugan killing the demon Soorapadman was celebrated with great vigour at Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Mylapore on Oct 29. The event started off with a special raja alangaram for Lord Murugan followed by the aradhanai. More than 1000 devotees participated in the veedi perappadu that followed. The procession stopped at North Mada street where the final battle between the demon and the diety was portrayed. The diety was then carried into the temple on the peacock vahanam.
