Padmavathy (83 years) passed away on October 14, 2014.
She was born in Trichy and married to R. Anandhakrishna Chettiar, who belonged to a comparatively poor family at Coimbatore in 1948. They moved to Chennai in 1948 and have lived in Alwarpet since 1967.
They were a couple for 64 years till her husband passed away in 2012. They had seven children and went beyond the family to help – family members said they were instrumental in conducting more than two dozen marriages. They celebrated landmark events like ‘shastiabbdhapoorthy, ‘beemarthashanthi’, ‘satha abhishekam’, ‘sahara chandra dharshanam’ and ‘kanakabhishekam’ together.
She was an example as to how to lead a harmonious and successful life irrespective of one’s background, her family said.
They reside at 13. Seethamma Road, Alwarpet. Ph: 9841021020.
