Schools in the Mylapore neighbourhood are all having a variety of special events, some simple some elaborate to mark Teachers Day on Sept. 5. Little is made of the relay of prime minister’s speech across the country to classrooms and in most schools, teachers and students were busy chalking out programmes.
On Friday, at around 9 a.m. at Rosary Matric Girls School, San Thome, the focus on teachers will run alongside the Assembly.
A more colourful act is expected at St Raphael’s School, where the tradition has been for teachers to amuse the student community before getting into the spotlight.
The Sir Sivaswami group of schools are hosting their big event in the evening.
