Gandhi Peace Foundation in this city with its base in Alwarpet is celebrating 50 years of its service. The Foundation was established in India by eminent Indians like Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Dr. Zakir Husain, C.Rajagopalachari, J.B.Kripalani, Sucheta Kripalani, Morarji Desai and Jayaprakash Narayan in the sixties.
The year 2013-14 marks 50 years of the Chennai-based, independently registered Trust called ‘Gandhi Peace Foundation, Madras, established by its Founder-Secretary: T. D. Tirumalai. It now functions on Ambujammal Street, Alwarpet. The valedictory of the golden jubilee of the Foundation will be held on Feb.10, 2 p.m. onwards at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan.
At the function is the launch of a newly planned Gandhi Academy of Peace Education and the release of two books Gandhian Way to Peace: English version (2nd edition) and Amaidhikku Gandhia Vazhi: Tamil version of the English book (1st edition) Radha Bhat, chairperson of Gandhi Peace Foundation, Delhi will preside.
Many teachers and campus representatives including the HM of Rosary Matric, San Thome will take part in the event which is open to all, S. Kulandaisamy is the Secretary. Call 99624 79005.
