Vintage Hollywood Classics Club will screen the 1945 classic ‘Milred Pierce’ on Sunday, 9th February at Aarkay Centre, Luz, 6 p.m. onwards. Writer Randor Guy will  introduce the movie. Non-membre need to pay a small admit fee. They may also become members of this Club. Call 24997529.

FREE EYE CHECK

THEME MUSIC, DANCE

Here are two events being held at the Music Academy, TTK Road, Alwarpet:

– Shakti Foundation will be hosting “Shryaahva” from Feb 10-14 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Four musicians, U Srinivas on the mandolin, Sivamani on the percussion, Stephen Devassy on the keyboard and Sheldon D’Silva on the bass guitar will perform. Ticketed.

– A concert featuring Sudha Raghunathan, Naveen Iyer, Anil Srinivasan and Jayanth is being organized by GRT Jewellers and Ashtalakshmi Creations on Feb 8, 6.30 p.m. onwards. Ticketed.

Here are three special events for classical music rasikas.

All at the shows are at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz.

Feb.8 – Dr M Narmada presents in talk and concert styles – Parur Tradition and its Legacy to various genres of Indian Music – Popular and Classical.

Feb.9; 30th Remembrance Day of the legendary dancer Balasaraswathi. Her sishya and arts promoter Nandini Ramani talks, and performs.

Feb.11; Remembering kanjira maestro G Harishankar; a audio-visual show and a concert by Neyveli Santhanagopalan.

All events start at about 6.15 p.m. and are open to all.
