The lull in the rain which has lashed the neighbourhood the past days has enabled civic workers to clear the main roads of stagnant rainwater.
On Thursday morning (Sept.12), a small band of civic workers – men and women – were seen hard at work, despite the drizzle clearing the water on the sides of San Thome High Road.
Though openings to main drains seem to have been cleared of the muck that envelopes it and prevents water from flowing in, water stagnates in many places on this busy road.
The condition of streets which were dug up for civic work and not relaid is pathetic. This is the scene in areas like Mandavelipakkam.
