This old man, who has his ‘patch’ on the pavement on R.K Mutt Road makes tin cones used at weddings to create ‘Paruppu Thengai’ sets. He sitsĀ alongside the Sri Kapali Temple tank and has been working on oil tins, cutting and shaping the sheets as cones.
These are used at Hindu Brahmin weddings. Traditionally, sweets are put into such cones and they are inverted and decorated and placed in the place where the wedding is performed. A pair of cones costs Rs.50.
