V. S. Santhanam, a retired professor of chemistry, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore passed away on June 18.
Santhanam had a long stint in teaching chemistry and was revered as a good teacher by the legion of his students and colleagues, says a family member.
In his early days, he was employed in Government Arts College in Salem. Later, he moved to Coimbatore where he resided until 2002.
All through his teaching days he adopted a simple approach and made sure that his students liked the subject by making it appealing and interesting, his family said.
After retirement he spent time in coaching needy students. His hobby was to network with his ‘old students’ fraternity, says his son.
He is survived by his wife S. Vijaylakshmi, son V. S. Raghunathan and daughter Sujaya Narayan.
