Prof. A.K. Prasad who was a long time resident of Mandaveli passed away on March 3.
He was born on Nov.16, 1934 and was the second son of Arcot Shamanna, the English teacher in the erstwhile P. S. High School
He retired as the Professor of Pharmacology at the Madurai Medical College in 1992.
Prasad was a very creative drama writer and introduced the famous Stop-Listen-Poison thriller play to the Chennai audience in 1960-70s. Several of his plays and skits have been broadcast in All India Radio.
“He was a one-man humour club as he was full of jokes and a prolific writer of jokes and stories, says a family member.
He is survived by his wife Kanthimathi Prasad and sons Karthik, Ashok and Shyam.
