Obit: Kamala Subramanian

Kamala Subramanian, wife of V. Subramanian, IA & AS (Retd.) passed away on Dec.23.

She was resident of Abhiramapuram 4th Street for over 26 years.

If you’ve ever ventured out for an early morning stroll around Boat Club or St. Mary’s Road, you are bound to have seen this lady. And perhaps even chatted with her. From mundane issues such as the increasing prices of petrol, the unruly traffic or more complex ones like the end of the world in 2012 and Tamil Nadu politics.

She might even have asked if you had a beautiful daughter or niece worthy of her handsome grandsons. You would have been disarmed by her directness. Warmed by her simplicity and amazed by her perspicacity.

Kamala Subramanian was the ultimate social network. She loved to meet people and talk to them face to face or on the phone.

She had been an excellent match-maker and was able to ferret out varans to suit the most complicated horoscopes.

She was a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. In accordance with her wish, her eyes were donated.

She is survived by her husband V. Subramanian, sons S. Kannan, S. Narasimhan and daughters Raji Swamy and Nimmou Nilakantan.
