Kunjammal Venkataraman, wife of P.S. Venkataraman (105) passed way at the age of 96 on December 2.
The couple from Mylapore were both featured in The Mylapore Times in February this year to mark Venkataraman’s turning 105.
They were both like banyan trees supporting a huge family of relatives, well wishers and friends. The secret of their longevity was” a planned diet” says Kaavya Chandrasekaran, a close friend of theirs.
Kunjammal leaves behind her son Nagaraj and daughter-in-law, Alamelu Nagaraj.

S. Gnanam, aged 88, a resident of R. A. Puram since 1984 passed away on November 23. She was married to Dr. N. V. Sambhamurthy who was a registered medical practitioner.
She was an accomplished Veena and harmonium player and used to play in a number of bhajan groups in and around Mandaveli. She passed her inter-mediate from Annamalai University in the late 30’s and was privileged to have Rt. Honorable Srinivasa Sastri as her professor.
She led a simple life as a housewife and enjoyed the spectacles that the world had to offer and faced all the challenges and vicissitudes of life with poise and equanimity. She celebrated her Sadhabhishekam with her husband in 1998 and had a happy married life for over 70 years.
