On a rare cloudy April 3 morning, in the midst of some 200 people, the kodiyetram ceremony was held inside Sri Kapali Temple in Mylapore, flagging off the annual Panguni festival of this temple.
The temple was abuzz since pre-dawn as preparations got underway for this ceremony.
And since last evening, people have been streaming into the temple to soak in the festival atmosphere which will heighten quickly.
On Wednesday, at about noontime, offerings were made and rituals performed to the Amman at the Sri Kolavizhi Amman Temple, the grama devathai, in keeping with a long standing tradition that is followed on the eve of the Panguni festuval of Sri Kapali Temple. ( photo below)
