Thousands of people braved the rising heart of the April summer to find a place on East Mada Street to take part in the chariot procession of the lord as the ‘ther’ rolled out from its shed, on to the mada veedhis on April 9 morning.
East Mada Street was a good place to be to watch the roll of the chariot with the lord inside it, since the buildings alongside this street provided some shade and one could pray and watch the chariot roll soon after the green flag was waved for the first time.
It took some smart manoeuvring of the wheels of the chariot by the volunteers as the ther ( chariot) took the bend near the Chitrakulam zone, to find its way on to South Mada Street.
As the chariot rolled into South Mada Street, more people came out to pray and to watch.
