The StopIndiaSpitting campaign was launched in Mylapore zone the past week with activists and volunteers campaigning in local areas against public spitting.
Team Beautiful Bharat got together with Team EcoKonnectors of Mylapore to spread this message.
Odette Katrak, co-founder of Beautiful Bharat volunteer group said it is as important to address the issue of public spitting because many diseases are spread from spit.
A team of volunteers set out into local areas and had conversations with the public about the ill effects of spitting.
Ganga Sridhar of EcoKonnectors said that her team will put up put up signboards across Mylapore to ask people not to spit in public spaces.
Sumithra Srikant of EcoKonnectors said that the team aims to spread the message among local hawkers.
K. L. Balasubramanian chose the large park at R. K. Nagar, Mandaveli and local autos to put ‘No Spitting’ signs.
