Ward 126 councillor Amirda Varshini of the Congress party organised a rangoli contest for two areas in her ward ( Mandavelipakkam zone) in connection with Tamil New Year’s day.
The contests were held last weekend in the Vanniyampathi and Karakuttai areas.
Large, colourful rangolis on different themes were drawn here, some outside the doorstep of houses and some in larger spaces off the street.
Prizes were awarded to the people who designed the best rangolis.
The councillor and judges went around the two areas to take a look at all the rangolis.
