Twins passionate about Carnatic music now get to perform

Samyukta and Samhita Lakshmeenarasimhan, 11-year-old twins studying in P. S. Senior Secondary School have a common interest – Carnatic music.

“We started to learn music when we were around five years old. We have progressed from there. Our daily practice sessions go on for 2 to 3 hours,” says Samhita.

The twins say they have been learning music for the past six years now. And they are now getting invites to perform on stage.

For the past one year, they have been learning from the violin artiste S. D. Sridharan, who the twins say is “our greatest inspiration”.

Earlier,  they got lessons from their great grand mother Rangamani, maternal uncle Janardhanan Vasudevan and mother Lochana.

“We want to keep learning music and emerge as good singers,” says Samyukta.

Ask them about their favourite ragas and she floods us with a few in a jiffy.

Samyukta and Samhita are residents of Mandaveli.
