As the city’s daytime temperature began to climb past 32 degrees this week, the community in R. K. Nagar in R. A. Puram began to unfold its summertime social project – providing buttermilk to the Urbaser Sumeet staff who clear waste in public spaces in this zone.
Everyday, some 20 Urbaser men and women are given two Aavin buttermilk bottles; lassi if the buttermilk is not available.
Each bottle of buttermilk costs Rs 12.
Said K. L. Balasubramanian of the R. K. Nagara community body, “Residents are contributing for this cause. All the funds which are sought locally are collected on a project-to-project basis.”
