The south-west unit in Chennai city of the DMK party got up a public meeting on Sunday, March 2 in Mylapore to mark the birthday of its leader and state chief minister M. K. Stalin.
Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was the main guest at the meet and he spoke, besides others like Chennai South member of parliament Thamizhachi Thangapandian and Mylapore MLA, Dha Velu.
The MLA said that some 100 women who had been trained in a series of tailoring courses run at his office campus the past months were gifted sewing machines.
Cookers were gifted to flower sellers in the Mylapore area and members of local area women’s self-help groups were given some financial assistance.
The large stage was set up alongside Indian Bank at the North Mada Street – R K Mutt Road junction. The main road was festooned with banners and illumination.
