Raja Annamalaipuram Residents’ Association (RAPRA) arranged a meeting with Traffic Police officials on February 25, to discuss issues that affect the area.
Dr V. Bhaskaran, IPS, deputy commissioner of Police (traffic – east), Christopher, assistant commissioner of police, Mylapore and Balakrishnan Pillai, Inspector (traffic) E4 police station attended the meeting.
Dr. R. Chandrasekaran, president of RAPRA, formally handed over to the deputy commissioner a petition.
Members raised their grievances. Here are the main issues that bother people here –
1. Need for speed breakers on Third Cross Road at the junction of Fourth Main Road because of the heavy traffic flow all day.
2. Timers wanted at the traffic signals at Billroth Hosptial intersection to facilitate pedestrians to cross on all four sides.
3. Two MTC bus stops set up next to each other on Second Main Road for only one bus which is on route 21G. This causes huge a pile up at Billroth Hospitals intersection. The bus stop in front of Satyam Apartments has to be removed.
4. MTC bus drivers plying buses on Third Cross Road in front of Billroth Hospital use both the lanes and then turn extreme right or left to proceed further. Poses dangers.
5. Buses from Mandaveli through St Mary’s Road have difficulty turning left into Third Cross
Road due to non functional signal and also parking of vehicles at that junction in front of a
tea stall and a provision store.
The deputy commissioner listened to the complaints and gave instant instructions on some issues for immediate redressal.
He assured residents that taxis and vans parked in inner streets and in No Parking zones will be toweed away.
Dear Dr , Please consider the unwanted vehicles stationed in 1st main road ( adjacent to Play ground) . The vehicles
( cylinder Loading / Waste paper loading , 2 wheeler mechanic parking lot) are posing a security threat as people are misusing the space and not safe for Ladies at night. The local 2 wheeler mechanic also needs to be warned for parking old im mobile vehicles .
