Police nab man who made off with cash, valuables at wedding hall

Mylapore police have arrested a man who slipped into a wedding hall in Mylapore when a wedding was on and made off with cash, jewellery and some valuables.

The man hails from Villupuram, had been successful with a similar act at a wedding hall in Saidapet and had a few criminal cases to his name.

Cash to the value of over Rs.2 lakhs from seized by the police when the arrest was made.

Police acted on a complaint that Eswari lodged at the Mylapore police station.

The crime took place during the wedding of her eldest son.

She said that she had left cash and valuables in bags inside the hall located on East Mada Street, Mylapore and had joined others for a session of group photographs and when she returned to her seat, found the cash and valuables missing.

Police tapped into footage of CCTV cameras at the hall and in the zone, identified the accused and then tracked him down.
