So what does the revised plan for Nageswara Rao Park have for Mylaporeans?
The food courts have been yanked off the first plan. The herbal garden is cancelled out.
There will be a badminton court, a community centre (open to sky) for meets / concerts, an open-air gym ( in addition to the two, huge closed gyms for men and women constructed recently, two small fountains ( the plan for a large, fancy fountain has been dropped), a children’s play area and two soak pits where excess rainwater can store and sponging takes place.
The walkway will be in the shape of a foot-print. One section of a walk path will be elevated on the far east side, to run above the recently-constructed storm water drain.
Glency Docmra is the architect firm that Chennai Corporation is consulting for the park project. Its staff say that the revised plan was submitted and the company has been asked to develop detailed plans for the structures it has envisaged.
