Residents of two areas of Mylapore zone are planning campaigns that will ask owners of dogs who walk them in colonies to clear the dog poop off the street.
These campaigns will be on in Jeth Nagar, a colony located off the Mandaveli MRTS rail station’s eastern side and in Mandavelipakkam.
In Jeth Nagar, civic activists have observed that besides dogs owned by residents of this nagar whose poop is messing up their lives, people from surrounding areas also walk their dogs at dawn on Jeth Nagar’s main road and add to the civic stink.
In Mandevelipakkam, when the dog poop stink hit the residents, they first had a chat with owners of the pets and advised them to clear the poop. In worked in a few cases.
Now, they are going to install a dozen signages on streets across the area that ask people to clear the poop that their dogs leave on streets and roads.
Said one Mandavelipakkam activist, “If we find that a person continues to care little for civic sense after our campaign, we will ask the civic body officials to fine them.”

Why not those, who bring up their pet dogs, train them to use their Toilet itself at home, rather than doing it in street, in front of others’ home?
