The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments ( HR & CE) department of Tamil Nadu arranged for the weddings of 30 couples at the Kapaleeswarar – Karpagambal kalyana mahal in R. A. Puram this past week.
The weddings were organised under a scheme initiated by chief minister M. K. Stalin. These were conducted as per the party’s self-respect wedding tradition or what is called suyamariyathai kalyanam, where traditional rituals are given the go by and well-wishers and family members of the couple conduct the wedding.
Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, ministers Sekar Babu and M. Subramaniam, city mayor R. Priya, Chennai South member of parliament, Thamizhachi Thangapandian and Mylapore MLA Dha Velu were some of the dignitaries who were present at the weddings.
