The annual feast of saint Lazarus will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guidance Church in R.A.Puram from January 16 to January 26.
The saint is the community’s patron saint. This is the 443rd edition of the feast.
The feast will commence with the flag hoisting on January 16 at 6 pm. There will be a car procession and the statues of 4 saints will be taken around the streets in the church zone.
From January 17 to 24, Holy Mass will be held at 6 am and novena Mass will be at 6.15 pm.
On January 25, the Mass is at 6.15 pm and a grand car procession of 9 statues of saints including that of Mother Mary will be taken out. This procession gnerally ends at midnight.
On January 26, there will be 4 Masses at 6 am, 7.30 am, 9.15 am and 5.15 pm.
Parish priest Fr. T. Anthony Raj and his assistant, Fr. L. Anto Jenish have planned the Masses and novenas and the community leads the processsions and celebration.
The 9 statues will do the rounds again after the morning Mass at 9.15 am. In the evening during the 5.15 Mass, the flag will be lowered and only the statue of Mother Mary will be taken out in procession in the church zone.
