The community at CSI St. Thomas Tamil Church in San Thome had their Pongal celebration on Sunday January 12, after the 7.30 am service.
Pongal was prepared in a special pot : the pastor’s wife Beula Devaprasad put the first handful of rice in the pot as symbolic gesture. All the members of the Women’s Fellowship joined hands in this effort.
Pastor Rev B Devaprasad said a prayer and blessed the cooked pongal
The game of Uri Adi was held.
Sakkarai pongal and Ven pongal were distributed to all who were present. The church campus wore a festive look with colourful kolams and sugarcane sticks put up here and there.
The event was organised by the pastor and the pastorate committee led by secretary Esther Jebaraj and treasurer Samuel Swamikkan.
